Deuteronomy

Synopsis: The book of Deuteronomy covers the last days of Moses and his leading of the children of Israel. In this book he gives three farewell addresses and reviews the law for the new generation of people as they approach the land of Canaan which they are to conquer and to dwell in. Although a book of history, Moses gives very clear warnings to the Hebrew people and to their leaders as to what will happen if they turn away from the true God and follow after the idols, religions, and the customs of the people in the land around them. These warnings are prophetic and came to pass many years later as recorded in other books of the Bible.

When Written: Around 1500 B.C.

Key Verse: Know therefore this day, and consider it in thine heart, that the LORD he is God in heaven above and upon the earth beneath: there is none else.Deuteronomy 4:39
