Synopsis: This book has long been a source of controversy. On the surface, it appears to be a series of love songs between a woman and her lord/husband/lover. Because it is somewhat sexual in nature, it is often treated as metaphor and many interpretations have been sought by the Church. The two main thoughts are that this love relationship is metaphor for the relationship between Jesus Christ and His people or between the Lord and His Church.
Key Verse: Many waters cannot quench love, neither can the floods drown it: if a man would give all the substance of his house for love, it would utterly be contemned. Song of Solomon 8:7
