When Written: Around 1500 B.C.

Synopsis: The book of Exodus is a history book covering the time the children of Israel were in bondage to the nation Egypt and their miraculous deliverance from slavery by God. The birth and history of the prophet Moses and the destruction of the first one world government is chronicled.

The book of Exodus is also the history of the first recorded law that was to govern a nation and upon which Western Civilization has functioned until recently. The Ten Commandments and other statutes were given to the people through the prophet Moses.

The book of Exodus is also the history of the first recorded national religion established by God. Since the nation Israel was a Theocracy in which the God of the Universe was to rule, a set pattern of worship, of holy days, of sacrifices and of a place of worship was established.

The book of Exodus is a foreshadowing of the Messiah, Jesus Christ, and of the New Testament church. It is full of prophesy and has wonderful spiritual lessons that the disciple of Jesus can apply to life today.
