Jonah

The book of Jonah is considered to be one of the minor prophetic books because it is short, only four chapters, and it is the 32nd book of the Old Testament. The prophet Jonah is thought to have written this book around 785 B. C. and it contains the historical account of the prophet’s disobedience to the Word of God, and his nautical adventure when trying to run away from and hide from the LORD God Almighty. Throughout the narrative, God’s mercy, grace, and patience is demonstrated as He endeavors to correct Jonah’s wrong thinking and attitude and get him back on the path of repentance and obedience. The themes of repentance, deliverance, divine intervention, salvation, compassion, the power of prayer, and God’s sovereignty are woven throughout the chapters of this book.
