Note: When referring to Christian believers throughout this study, this writer means those believers who are converted and filled with the Holy Ghost/Spirit. There are many people in the world today who believe in God and who believe they are “Christians”, but they have never yielded their life to the LORD and have never received the gift of the Holy Ghost. They have a head knowledge, but not a heart knowledge. Therefore, they are not Christian in the true sense of the word, Christian meaning that they are “like Christ” because of having His Ghost/Spirit living inside of them. See Luke 22 for the example of the Apostle Peter who had been given the keys to the kingdom and yet who was not yet in the spiritual kingdom of God. “But I have prayed for thee, that thy faith fail not: and when thou art converted, strengthen thy brethren.” Luke 22:32 Peter walked and lived with Jesus Christ, but he was not yet a Christian believer.
Synopsis: Psalms is a compilation of poetical works making up five books, each one ending with a doxology. These works are mostly attributed to King David, but other writers contributed to this volume as well. They were designed to be chanted or sung to the accompaniment of stringed instruments and they express human emotions from the pinnacle of joy to the depths of despair and feature the worship and praise of the Lord God of creation and reliance on His divine provision and deliverance from trials, tribulation, sin and sorrow. This book is the “go to” book of the Bible to receive encouragement and to develop a greater love, appreciation and understanding of God Almighty.
